Khaire Hekate Basileia!

Empress. Queen. Queendom.

Queendom?

Yes...not what You are Queen of, but what it is that You are Queen. And, beloved Hekate, You are most certainly Queen!

For so many years, I avoided deities. I moved from the monotheistic religion of my youth to the concept of Goddess and God. No names, domain over everything, always paired...Goddess and God. It felt like simply replacing the deity of my youth with a female figure, and keeping a male figure next to her as if the Divine must be male. I removed the God. I tried doing research to justify the Goddess, but the research first led me to unjustifiable syncretism and then to a form of agnosticism. I thought there may be deities, but I would never know and there would never again be any for me.

And then...You!

Have I feared simply returning to a slightly altered version of how I used to see the deity of my youth, but with Your name? Oh, yes! I learned of henotheism. Sometimes I see it discussed as accepting all deities to be avatars of The One. Sometimes I see it discussed simply as believing other deities exist, but only worshipping one.

Are You the only one I worship? That's not an easy question for me to answer. I'm still working on really understanding what worship is. You sre the one I worship most, if I do worship others. You are my favorite. You are the only one I am fully devoted to.

You are my Queen.

My culture does not have official royalty. I do not claim to understand what queendom is. I also don't know that I believe anyone who isn't royalty themself can fully understand it. I see a queen as being held high and honored. I see her being treasured for simply existing. I see the weight of her crown being heavy, as she knows every word she speaks, breath she draws, and move she makes will be seen as The Queen did that. I see so much more, but do not have the words for it all.

You are my Queen.
