Small Changes to Prayers
I find myself rewording prayers. Reading the prayers of other modern devotees, comparing modern words to the words of ancient scribes and philosophers...restructuring, rewording, combining...editing, personalizing.
I believe there is power in words that are used repeatedly. Ritual devotional prayer is important. I could explain why I think that, but it could become such an essay on its own that it would distract from the purpose of this space. The words matter.
I also want my prayers to be personal. I value the time I spend focused on You. The time spent so aware of Your presence. I need to feel the prayers resonate throughout that time and space and all within it, including myself. Especially myself. What purpose could my prayers have if they simply became words I repeat?

Hail Hekate - Mistress of the Three Realms, Keeper of the Keys, Soul of the World!
Honored art Thou amongst the gods, and blessed am I in Your presence.
Glorious Hekate - Pammetor and Soteira - gladden my heart as I devote myself to You.
