Khaire Hekate Propylaia!

I have read several English translations of Your epithet "Propylaia". On the surface, "before the gates" and "at the Gates" seem to mean that You stand at the Gates. Certainly, that is something I've heard and seen said of You, especially that You stand at the gates to the Underworld.

Mother, You know me. How often am I happy with only looking at the surface of something? And I know You welcome me to dive deeper, dig deeper, explore the caves of knowledge.

I read the translations, but a question so easily drifts through my mind... What if She IS the gates?

You are there at birth and death. You are there in the Underworld, the Starry Cosmos, every step we take on Earth... All realms are Your domain, so I think of the liminal spaces as Your throne. The gates of the Underworld - the gates that mark the boundary between mortal life and life in the Otherworld - that is, certainly, liminal space!

I say I think of liminal space as Your throne, but it's not that simple. In some ways, I think You are the liminal space. Which would bring us back to the idea that You are not just standing at the gates, but that You are the Gates!
