Sacred

Over the years, I've known many people who taught that it's not enough just to Do The Things, but that one must also focus on why it's being done...put one's energy and intention into it.

I agree in some cases. In other cases, I think The Thing simply becoming part of regular routine solidifies how Real it is. I eat when I need to eat, and I sleep when I need to sleep. I can reach over and pick up my water, drink from it, and put it back without ever noticing that I did so when I'm deep into work. My body's need and what the water will give are so real that the attention I do or do not give to drinking has no effect.

Some things will always require attention. Some things can become automatic because they are so Real that what I'm thinking while I do it has ceased to matter. Every action can be an act of devotion. Every action can be sacred. Every action can be an expression of the Divine.
